34. I have seen that happen on DU in 2 of the 3 "open" nomination races

I saw people suggest that others that ran in 2004 should be in Kerry's and Obama's cabinets, once they were seen as the de facto nominee. (Early in 2008, many proposed President Clinton/VP Obama/AG Edwards) In 2016, I really did not see it.

Does it happen? Kerry did take Edwards as VP and we don't know who else he would have placed anywhere. Obviously, Obama did make HRC SoS and Biden VP. (There were good reasons NOT to put Edwards, Dodd, Richardson or Kuchinich in any position.) This would suggest that being in the race can make someone high profile - making their inclusion in the government more likely.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
