Showing Original Post only (View all)Gillibrand becomes first presidential candidate to reveal her 2018 taxes [View all]
PoliticoKirsten Gillibrand released her 2018 tax returns on Wednesday, becoming the first presidential candidate to do so and challenging her rivals for the 2020 Democratic nomination to disclose their own.
Last year, the New York Democrat reported that she earned about $218,000 bringing in $167,634 from her congressional salary and an additional $50,000 from her book deal. She paid $29,170 in federal taxes. Her husband, Jonathan Gillibrand, who has worked in venture capital, did not report any income in 2018.
I want voters to know that I am beholden to no one, that my values are not for sale and that Im working only for you, Gillibrand said in a short video posted to her YouTube channel. We cant fundamentally change Washington unless we can show the American people we are brave enough to do what needs to be done.
Gillibrands challenge could turn up the heat on other 2020 candidates, as well as distinguish her in the pack of presidential contenders. Gillibrand, who formally launched her campaign earlier this month and delivered a kickoff speech in Manhattan last weekend, is still struggling to break out of the pack, just cracking 1 percent in national and early- state polling.

I don't want to sound insulting. But do you know anything about Venture Capital?
