(12,619 posts)when ideology blinds you to everything but 'my way or the highway.' The idea of progress and actual lives get lost in the mix. It's not unlike the theory that voting for Trump in 2016 would pave the way for 'Our Revolution.'
Think Susan Sarandon and her minions.
Because when you're living on a mountaintop, the carnage in the valley is very far away, the pain an abstract. You're not going to feel the discomfort; the sacrifice in healthcare or any other issue will be carried by others.
But the dream lives!
Voters need to remember this the next time Bernie supporters insist that Dems=Repugs, that leveling the whole system is actually a good thing because the road to paradise runs through destruction.
It doesn't.
We're witnessing that in real time: the populist fantasy. Doesn't matter whether it comes from the Left or the Right. The end note is always the same.
