(128,778 posts)isn't really Bernie himself as much as the kinds of people he attracts. I did support him in 2016 but was pretty put off by his refusal to concede even after it was mathematically impossible for him to win the nomination, and especially by his supporters who tried to disrupt the convention. I switched over to Hillary with no regrets at all. This time he seems to have attracted even more fanatical supporters who apparently would do just about anything, including GOP-style ratfucking, to be sure he wins. It's beginning to turn into something pretty close to a personality cult - there's a post right here on DU claiming Bernie is the solution to everything, and there have been plenty of others in which almost any discussion breeds knee-jerk expressions of Bernie's awesomeness. This isn't only stupid, it's downright dangerous. Trump has a personality cult. We sure as hell don't want one on our side.
