(71,542 posts)You choose the letter. Now Sanders caucuses with us and shares some values...I don't know that he shares all of them...or that he doesn't...no idea. However, being a member of a party is a big deal and when Sanders doesn't join our party, I find it a repudiation of our party and not a good example as we try to recruit folks into our party...Being an independent sends the message that our party is not good enough for him. So those who admire him perhaps won't become Democrats and that is a shame.
We need to attract voters. Sanders also put Stein voters into his campaign...no Democrat would have done this...third party voters that cost us the 16 election in MI,WI and PA. This sends a message that hey voting Green is OK AND IT IS NOT OK. I believe that there are more folks that agree with us than don't and unless folks become Democrats, work their asses off in every election-not just presidential elections and have the discipline to vote Democratic in every election- no matter what, the GOP will continue to kick our asses and win elections they should not. So you see I honestly think Sanders being an independent hurts that effort. And he could be a Democrat if he chose but does not choose to do so.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
