Democratic Primaries

(17,387 posts)You said, "Bernie would talk circles around Trump on healthcare"?
I seriously doubt that Trump won the Republican primary based on his command of the nuances of healthcare. Trump won based in large part on scapegoating immigrants. While Bernie's own past scapegoating and race baiting with anti-immigrant, anti "open borders" rhetoric has won him some right wing admirers like Steve King (R) and Ann Coulter (see Newsweek article below), Bernie is not going to out scapegoat Donald Trump. Bernie might win the Iowa primary with his anti-immigrant views that he sells as populism, but the Iowa general?

ANN COULTER WOULD VOTE FOR BERNIE SANDERS' ORIGINAL BORDER POLICY DESPITE 'THE REST OF THE SOCIALIST STUFF
Sanders, the independent senator for Vermont and a candidate in the Democratic primary for the party's 2020 presidential nomination, is liberal on many immigration issues but is staunchly opposed to open borders, despite the policy's popularity on the left.
"If he went back to his original position, which is the pro blue-collar positionI mean, it totally makes sense with him," Coulter said in an appearance on PBS's Firing Line with Margaret Hoover on Wednesday night.
"If he went back to that position, I'd vote for him, I might work for him. I don't care about the rest of the socialist stuff. Just, can we do something for ordinary Americans?"
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
