Democratic Primaries
In reply to the discussion: AM Joy dedicated 20+ minutes to basically saying Mayor Pete... [View all]not_the_one
(2,227 posts)that the black community MUST NOT support Mayor Pete.
But that decision appears too conclusive to be spontaneous...
After all, if the black community isn't on board with our nominee, the rest of us can sit at home, because that nominee will lose. Joy is just helping achieve that goal.
Apparently (we are led to believe) the backbone of the black voting constituency, (all older black women) refuse to support him, therefore the entire black vote will be a no-show if he is the nominee. They won't say it is because of his sexuality, but they ALL seem to be "christian", and appear to be taking their marching biases from the black fundamental churches. (THAT is where my suspicions light, and it's also probably being fanned by those who want to cause discord among democrats...)
So the self-fulfilling prophecy was initiated so that EVERYONE says that blacks will never support Pete, therefore no one does. They say they aren't monolithic, yet no one wants to rock the boat. They would just as soon support Biden, because of Obama, and IN SPITE OF Anita Hill and Clarence Thomas. You can rest assured that ALL that shit will be dragged out when Biden becomes the nominee.
I am a Pete supporter. He has his critics within the black community on issues he faced as a mayor. He has been asked about the firing and the shooting. I happen to believe him. I am NOT big on his being SO religious, but I can overlook that because of his intelligence, empathy and ability to look at issues and offer a new way of addressing them. The same old, same old hasn't worked, and we need new options. At this point we, as a country, have SO jumped the shark, that desperation is a legitimate option in choosing a nominee. Sometimes a new direction is not only warranted, but smart. I think this is as good a time for serious change as we are going to get. The outrage I am seeing and hearing SEEMS to be overwhelming. While at the same time we are led to believe that this is a neck-in-neck horse race. Again, Joy is helping to achieve that.
Yes Pete is young. So? Apparently any idiot can fill the slot of POTUS. But, it is ALSO GLARINGLY APPARENT, the person in the position itself does not do all the work. The key is the people around the president, and the vision the president gives them. I trust Pete completely in that arena.
Obviously YMMV.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
