It is still up to Senator Warren to clarify it. I know Senator Sanders to be an honest man and he spoke out regarding the context. He didn't say "a woman cannot win" but rather did say that attacks would be made based on sexist attitudes, simply as cautionary advice. He is human and therefore capable of mistakes, but that doesn't mean that he flagrantly goes against his inner moral code. He is known for having a strong moral code and lives accordingly. That's not something I alone say, but rather something intrinsic to who Bernard Sanders is.

Senator Warren prefers to let it stand for now because she thinks she can gain from the brouhaha. It doesn't help her so much as it does help more centrist candidates. In holding off with a full explanation she is doing a disservice to all progressives.
