In reply to the discussion: Elizabeth Warren's Campaign Is Telling Key Supporters To De-Escalate The Fight With Bernie Sanders [View all]HerbChestnut
(3,649 posts)Nobody else was in the room. The story was first reported by CNN who got their information from 4 sources who "had knowledge of the conversation". The only people who would have knowledge of the conversation are those in Bernie's and Elizabeth's camps. There's no way Bernie's people leak this when he's rising in the polls and trying to focus his campaign on winning Iowa, which, by the way, is in 3 weeks. Warren's campaign has been lagging in the polls and in fundraising. It's likely if she doesn't do well in Iowa and New Hampshire that she'll be out of the race. Her best bet at gaining support is through the progressive wing of the party, and it's not far-fetched that some people high up in her campaign thought attacking Bernie could be a way back into the race and that the timing (1 day before the debate, 3 weeks before the caucus) would be perfect. Everything points to this being a leak by the Warren campaign.
