(58,785 posts)rousing his people to support the legislation he introduces, to the point that he'll be able to make congress offers they "can't refuse." A somewhat similar, but far, far less friendly, approach to congress than Trump's. Trump has managed to obtain the support of his own party in congress after all, although they still do the legislating, sorta.
My questions are, does he plan to do that for all the legislation he "introduces" that a majority, Democrats or otherwise, won't support (and we should assume from this approach that he expects it to be a great deal). And if so, are you expecting to march in the streets to demand the house and senate pass every bill the president writes, or just some? How is that going to work? Is a congressional compliance actually necessary?
Of course, Trump's still hoping to pull a people-supported coup off, and his ass out of the fire, and Republican congressional fear of his trumpsters has been a great asset. Any insights from what else is working for him and not?
... So I dont accept that. But, second of all, the point that I am making is that the way you bring about real change in this country, what the history of America is about is when millions of people stand up for justice. So again, when I say to you in due respect, and I mean that we look at the world differently. Youre saying, how do I negotiate with Mitch McConnell? And Ill tell you how I negotiate. Because when the people of Kentucky are demanding to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour or health care for all or making their schools, public colleges and universities tuition-free, thats the basis of negotiation. O.K.? ... Thats how change comes about: You make an offer to Mitch McConnell that he cannot refuse, and that is that the American people want to move in a different direction.
KK: background checks. So I guess Im curious how it will be different.
Again, we do live in different worlds.
KK: Yes.
