Theoretical as opposed to actual. And when he did seek the actual he tended to find poor examples. You know, the Soviet Union and Cuba.
To be fair to Bernie Sanders, its what a lot of well meaning but ultimately futile seekers do. Build up an ideal, then try to find an example somewhere.
