You clarified one thing I was wondering about, which is whether your worries were about household debt or government debt.
And no, the problems are not self-explanatory. In fact, most people get it quite wrong (i.e., it's not necessarily a "problem" at all). I don't know if you are interested in hashing it out, but if you want to know why I think scare-mongering about Federal deficits/debt is misguided and counterproductive, I'm willing to go into it. Let me know...
