it could be additive - getting votes you couldn't reach before. And that could be a powerful motivator for the primary voter who might not otherwise consider the candidate. Could make the difference between an also ran and someone who can really snake their way thru the process. It is risky, but I think a smart candidate would want the typical primary Democratic voter to know who they want as their VP.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
