In reply to the discussion: Trump's MAGA supporters and Twitter Bernie Bros have this ugly tactic in common [View all]NCProgressive
(1,315 posts)This is not how politics works. Politics is a game of compromises so everyone gets about half of what they want.
This also creates a doctrine of incremental change for the better over time so that the society gets educated and reforms.
Wanting everything at once is what fascist parties do. "Over everyone's dead body" is not only their attitude but they actually get pleasure from denying other viewpoints their say and their wants.
The meme comes in the form of "we need radical change" (translation: I want what I want and anyone opposing be damned.)
or "I am not happy with the status quo" (translation: All of you in a civilized discourse seeking change are stupid)
or "We need a revolution" (translation: We need to be militant and extremists using whatever means necessary to destroy people with other points of view.)
This problem originates with the leaders and the gullible devotees fall for it. Look at Trump supporters as an example and draw your own comparisons.
To make gullible devotees, the first thing done by these Machiavellian leaders is to make them feel deprived "look, you don't have what all those others have" - this generates anger and anger drives militancy. Trump supporters feel deprived that immigrants have jobs, African Americans are advancing and Asians do well in school all because of the government policies. The sense of deprivation may be different but the twitter bros also express it. We see it on DU as well.
Thanks for posting lapucelle.
