In fact, the first mention of her I remember was in a NYT magazine profile on Bill Clinton that was VERY supportive and spoke of how he married a fellow Yale lawyer as bright as he was. They were full of praise about her time in the Senate. They also were thrilled when she was named SoS.
I don't think they would have attacked her had she written an oped on an issue dear to her, endorsed a candidate or challenged a Trump action. I think this oped was because - even after TWO books on what happened in 2016, both times blaming Sanders among others, she opted to participate in this documentary that drops in the 2020 primary.
I saw a different oped in the LA Times that spoke of how reading this the morning after all the candidates marched together on MLK day had seemed to signal a return to unity - even as each candidate would struggle to differentiate themselves in a way that made them the nominee.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
