Democratic Primaries
In reply to the discussion: Lets talk about joe Rogan endorsing Bernie Sanders [View all]booley
(3,855 posts)I could call it it hypocrisy since I know I am unlikely to win many converts here.
But how exactly are Joe Rogan supporters different from the Conservative Republican voters moderates like Biden say they want to win over?
I have lived near conservative Republicans all my life. They are plenty sexist and racist and problematic. I watched as over 70% of them voted to make me a second class citizen in Missouri.
Yet we are supposed to elect a Moderate and dilute out values in the vain hope these voters will come vote for the Democrat. That's the entire case for Biden, that he can attract the conservatives who voted for trump in 2016, the same people who clearly were ok with trump's sexism and racism in 2016.
Not only has this not worked, it's hurt as a party. People don't' even know what democrats stand for anymore.
Yet Sanders is bad when he can get these voters without changing any of his positions (which are very much antithetical to the bigoted demagoguery of Trump)
I don't' think the real problem is that Sanders is attracting "Problematic voters"
The real problem is that Sanders is succeeding where centrists have for years failed and without selling his soul to do so.
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
