(20,709 posts)Unlike JFK or Joe Rogan (or Joe Biden), Bernie has always been ahead of his time in terms of being progressive. But we can't be purists, so in order to win elections, we also need independents like Joe Rogan's audience.
I mean, that's the whole reason we're told that we need to accept Biden's centrist policies on issue after issue, and his votes for the Iraq War and deregulation and bankruptcy and welfare and trade and so on (seriously, has he made any progressive votes?) is that we can't alienate those "moderates". Right? When Biden is talking up his segregationist buddies, or bashing welfare queens, or floating a Republican running mate, it's all for then greater good, it's all part of the plan to get independents, right?
But then Bernie, actually getting an endorsement from an independent with a large audience, and without actually shifting his policies to the right the way Biden does, and it's all outrage from the centrists. Hypocrisy is head spinning.
