In reply to the discussion: Workers Defense Action Fund Texas Endorses Bernie [View all]ehrnst
(32,640 posts)27. Depends on the Union, doesn't it?
Wouldn't an endorsement by UMW or OCAW be problematic for someone who is an environmental candidate? That would indicate that a blanket statement that all union endorsements mean something positive isn't really accurate. Wouldn't you agree?
And I REALLY hope that some union educates Senator Sanders on the rights of organized labor to speak to the press concerning labor negotiations with management...and how exercising those rights is not "unacceptable" or "improper."
"It does bother me that people are going outside of the process and going to the media," he said. "That is really not acceptable. It is really not what labor negotiations are about, and it's improper."
Sanders said, ahead of a weekend Iowa campaign swing: "We are disappointed that some individuals have decided to damage the integrity of these efforts. We are involved in negotiations. And some are individuals that have decided to damage the integrity of that process before they were concluded."

Or maybe someone can send him the link to the NLRB website
Employees have a statutory right to speak publically about their complaints or concerns with their terms and conditions of employment, including to the press, without employer authorization.
In other words, employees have a right under the National Labor Relations Act generally to discuss their employment including with the press.

Umm, I guess it would depend on which congressman. What does that have to do with this?

It has to do with your post about a congressman's endorsement being a big nothing

Nobody said or even hinted anything like that. Playing the "union" card isn't going to work with me

A union didn't endorse him, a Super PAC endorsed him. The Workers Defense Action Fund isn't a union.

Umm, OK. An advocacy group for Texas workers that works alongside unions. My mistake lol.

It's not a union. In fact, they're a "dark money" Super PAC, they're not required to file ANY....

Super PACs are Super PACs. This organization is NOT affiliated with a union, it had no formal....

Imagine trying to convince someone who doesn't already hate Bernie that this is corrupting him...

So now all of a sudden we're applying that "purity test" to Super PACs, too, not just candidates?

Umm, you're the one attacking Bernie for being "impure" by having a labor group support him.

It's not a labor group, it's a Super PAC. It's dark money, in fact so dark that they don't even...

It's a labor group with a Super PAC. If you can't tell the difference between that

Do you have anything substantial about them other than their OWN website? I can't find anything.

I don't have any issues with them advocating for unpaid and underpaid workers.
