Woman being afraid of speaking out about powerful men isn’t some new thing. I don’t know why you think this somehow hurts women who have experienced much worse situations, are men supposed to be free to touch women whenever they please as long as they’re not actually sexually assaulting them?

I think we can aim for better than that, and say that it’s not ok to make close physical contact with a woman like this without her consent. That doesn’t seem an unreasonable burden. As for Joe I don’t think it’s disqualifying in the slightest, as long as he just understands that the world has changed now, and behavior that was once considered normal is not ok in this age. It doesn’t have to be seen as some attack on Joe, just as a learning moment for all men.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
