(18,690 posts)Yep, I'm scared of that too. Sometimes erring on the side of "caution" leads to disaster. Fear is never the right basis for action, but I'm just being totally and completely honest. I'm not in the least bit proud to admit "fear" is a motivating factor in my decisions.
It's very hard sometimes to see things objectively when you're in the middle of it. My first real brush with politics was being a precinct captain for the Dukakis campaign. I was really young and not that knowledgeable about how politics worked or how Dukakis came across to most Americans. My heart was broken when he lost. (EDIT: My point being, I apparently deluded myself about my candidate's chances of winning in that political environment.)
This situation we're in: I just can't compare it to anything I've been through before. Maybe there's some precedent for this in American history, but it's unknown to me.
I know one thing: I can get enthusiastic about whoever our nominee turns out to be. We had/have tremendous candidates. I even think I could recapture that love I had for Bernie in 2016. But dammit, I can't take four more years of Trump.
Hopefully, things will come clear and we'll get "an answer" by Super Tuesday or soon thereafter.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
