Democratic Primaries
In reply to the discussion: I don't understand why Buttigieg isn't the centrist replacement for Biden instead of Bloomberg. [View all]MerryBlooms
(12,621 posts)There are plenty of people in our party who will not vote for a woman, nor a married gay man. I know at least 7 Democratic voters (those who at least display their bigotry openly), 1 Chicano man, 3 white men , 2 white women, 1 Latina. These are people I have known for many years who come to my home for holiday meals and birthday parties. Not in a million years would I have guessed they would voice these opinions. I found out at Thanksgiving when I overheard them on the front porch while they were having a smoke. I'm usually a coward with this sorta thing, but two of our other guests were looking down at their feet and nervous. I told the offenders our household was one of acceptance and love, and if they wanted to talk that sort of crap, they had to go home and troll FB. They laughed, but they did stop the language they were using and hugged me and apologized. Our other two guests hugged me and thanked me, I apologized and did a shot with them. Christmas, there was zero garbage talk. I know I didn't change minds, but our home is now comfortable for all who visit.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
