That would have fit the ads point which was not to highlight Petes greatest weakness, but to fight
back against Pete on the same grounds Pete has taken him on.
Many times Pete has portrayed Bidens accomplishments as irrelevant, passé, suited for another world, his resume outdated. In this, he has tried to minimize Joes experience to the point of insignificance, when a mere three years ago Joe was VP, and he has made continued references to his age disabling him from knowledgeably governing today. He has done this citing one of todays
issues as being gig economy. Dear Lord. Age does not make one deaf and blind to new social developments, new job markets and their implications.
Bidens ad challenges Pete on ground he himself has laid out when he attempts to invalidate Bidens CV. He treats him as one going after a job with an obsolescent set of skills, a former model T mechanic auditioning to fix Teslas. It is fair that Joe contrast his governing experience with
Petes, set the resume Pete has dismissed as old hat and irrelevant to the 2020 presidency against the one Pete proposes should launch him into the most powerful position in the world.
As to his experience serving. Serving in Afghanistan does not give him any special right to be nasty as he was to Beto or foreign relations and policy expertise or stature. He certainly can speak to the soldiering experience there and he may have insights to share about the Mideast based on his tour. However, he uses it far too frequently to show he has the character dimension and fitness for command of a super power among superpowers, to become the most powerful person in the world. . it simply does not confer presidential qualifications and experience upon him, though rightly, as you point out, it is admirable, patriotic, and I should not have tried to detract from that in the face of the points you make about it.
Punch above your own weight, gutsy, but expect heavier competitors to hit back on occasion. Joes punch was not below the belt. The ad did reference that despite the AA communitys wishes, Pete fired both the Fire Chief and the Police Chief, completely ignoring them. Well, that is very relevant as to Petes proposing to lead not a city with racial divisions fielding serious charges
of mistreatment and neglect of an entire community, but a nation he would inherit after Trump has legitimized and emboldened white Supremacists.
Gig economy!
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
