I put "moderates" in quotes, because a lot of people supporting Buttigieg, Biden, Klobuchar or Bloomberg might ideally prefer a more progressive candidate but are motivated primarily by a desire to beat Trump.

But if the early primaries and current polling are any indication, these voters are going to keep fighting over who the best "moderate" candidate is, and, in so doing, they are going to hand the nomination to the LEAST moderate candidate - Sanders. Meaning that Trump will run against an avowed Democratic Socialist who supports positions that are known duds with swing voters, such as doing away with private insurance.

I feel like I'm watching a slow motion car wreck here- I can see how it plays out, and there seems to be nothing we can do to stop it.
