Democratic Primaries

(1,181 posts)I'll start by saying that I will vote blue no matter who, though I currently lean towards Warren. Also, I was a Bernie supporter in 2016, but voted for Hillary in the general because...well, I'm a grown up...and my main concern was the judiciary (with good cause, as it turns out).
But since then, I definitely have my questions about his ability to lead and work with others. I know the Republicans don't require that of 45 because they're all fine with a dictator as long as he's their dictator. Dems aren't going to be as willing to work in lockstep. And if we don't flip the Senate we can forget getting anything done. Of course, standing still is better than going back to the stone age with the orange shitgibbon, but we are running out of time on a lot of fronts and will need to make some progress.
Whenever I bring any of this up, I am relentlessly and viciously attacked by his cultists. No, not ALL supporters, but the ones who are as blindly loyal as MAGAs. It's really disheartening. Especially when you ask someone "but will you vote for the nominee if it's not Bernie?" and they respond with some version of "if Bernie is not the nominee then the vote is rigged and America deserves 45." I've heard that A. LOT. Which scares the shit out of me. And it also makes me really angry that they're willing to put vulnerable people and the planet in greater peril if they don't get their way.
Anyway, what worries me is that, if Bernie DOES get the nomination, anyone not as politically engaged as the average DUer who asks even the most innocuous question about him will get attacked by his cultists and they won't bother voting. I mean, I've voted in every election since I turned 18, including local elections. And if I find myself turned off of the idea of voting for him, what's going to happen to the person who typically doesn't bother to vote? We need to get those people on board. Hoping that they hate Trump enough to vote regardless of being attacked and threatened seems like a very bad plan to me.
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
