And, the same surveys that show Biden to be competitive in a GE race show Sanders to be competitive. Why are these results so convincing in Biden's case and so unconvincing in Sanders' case?
Everyone is going to be needed to defeat Trump, regardless of the candidate. Are moderate Democratic voters and officials going to sit on their hands and not put the work in if Sanders is nominated? Would we excuse that behavior if it were any other candidate?
Sanders appeals to younger, disaffected, and left leaning Democrats. Maybe a strong appeal from a moderate Democrat would appeal to these voters. Rather than a pity party, how do we improve on common purpose and determination to win?
None of the candidates is risk free or devoid of upside, and focusing only on the negative elevates conflict and lowers our chances. Obviously, that lesson from 2016 hasn't been learned.
