In reply to the discussion: 2020 Dems can't tell Bernie to lay down and die when it's his economic agenda they are hawking [View all]WordsMatter
(80 posts)18. That is a good read...
Senator Sanders championed these 'new' democratic ideals by starting his first presidential campaign. And now most Dem candidates are singing Sanders's tune.
From cited article:
After all, does't everybody whose anybody in the Democratic Party already support a $15 an hour wage, Medicare-for-all and the Green New Deal? "Thanks old man, weve finally got the winning message and we now have our pick of more marketable messengers with better optics.
I would think the person who truly believes in something and is willing to stick their neck out for it is truly inspiring.
And then there is the younger people:From cited article:
It is not a coincidence that Bernie Sanders radical message resonated most with young people for whom the American experience has been defined by Sept. 11 and the Great Recession, its dismal aftermath and now the national tragedy of Donald Trump.
There is a poetic irony that it would take a 77-year old man, who has lived a long life, to give voice to the aspirations of young people yearning to re-shape a world so they can start their own.

We were all young at one time - your ability to succeed in life and the livelihood and success of your country is enhanced when parents can afford to bring up their children properly and that takes money.
The younger people are extremely concerned about what lies ahead in their future. They correctly believe that progressive solutions coming from Sanders and Warren and other progressives is what America needs.
And, those same policies and positions that the younger people want - also benefit ALL people in America. Imagine that...
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided

No it's not. That "agenda" has existed long before Sanders ever came up with it.

Precisely - it's always "we need to....", never "I will". I saw tweets the last day or two...

Bernie: take classic Democratic policies, call it something slightly different, claim it's new.

2020 Sanders can't offer a different path when others are running on 'his' economic agenda either.
