(14,556 posts)It has to be some form of mandatory contribution in order for it to work. ie... all people pooling together to fund a system in the cheapest way for everyone. As well as an oversight government authority to make sure all citizens have equal access.
Face it, its just the language that Democrats are afraid to use. And I'm not entirely blaming them. Too much of America has been brainwashed against that word. But so many things are already socialized. Like the Armed Forces. Tell that to a Trump Humper and watch their head explode. As and example, say, if every small army base had to each take care of ordering and buying their own uniforms, the cost would be more over all across the forces, and even the minor design differences would be a problem. Where as if a particular uniform style is ordered for a whole regiment, for the whole country even, they can find a large manufacturer who can make more at once, and give the government a better deal. Same with planes, and tanks, and guns.
Same principle with a medicare system. It is just a word. I don't care if they use it or don't use it, as long as they embrace what it means.
Which is one reason why, even though I am undecided now, I am leaning towards Kamala Harris.
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
