Obama ran for president during the collapse of the national economy which caused more damage to more people than almost anything in recent memory apart from actual wars, but he didn't yell or appeal to anger. He offered hope, which is what people wanted and responded to. Bill Clinton attracted people with a vibe of warmth and kindness; he was able to reach out to people on a personal level. Even Reagan, awful as he was, got votes because he spoke in positive terms and seemed to have a sense of humor. His projected persona was the kindly grandpa, not the cranky old guy who chases kids off his lawn. Anger gets the adrenaline going and that feels good; that's why Trump attracts (some) angry people - he excites them with anger. I'd rather see a candidate excite people with hope.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
