Democratic Primaries

(32,017 posts)There are a number of people here who believe, in good faith, that a Sanders nomination will be a disaster for the party. I hear that, and I understand where they are coming from, even if I don't agree.
But it feels to me like the NV caucus results are sinking in on DU and that a lot of people are "adjusting" to the idea that Sanders may very well be our nominee. Give them time. Most of them will come around.
It's not shocking that Bernie won NV. It's shocking that Bernie won NV by the enormous margin that he did. It's seriously shocking that he won the Latino vote by a 37% margin. Going into Super Tuesday, Bernie is poised to win an enormous number of delegates in CA and TX if his strong Latino support continues, and there is no reason to believe that it won't. Sanders may even win SC and, in doing so, sink Biden's campaign. People here are adjusting to this new reality. It's tough, but I, personally, have no problem with Bernie's platform. He may not be able to pass any of it, but it looks like the Democratic voters in our primaries and caucuses don't care whether or not Bernie can accomplish his legislative goals. They're voting for him because he's at least willing to argue that the people deserve the things he is promising. Apparently, that's enough.
