They're millionaires if you count the properties, which they bought long ago when property was reasonably priced. So happens ... they chose very wisely in that regard.
My mom still cuts coupons and won't pay full price for anything. I remember them buying maybe 4 brand new cars in my entire life and one of those was a Capri in like 1975. All the rest were used. I bet my mom doesn't own a piece of jewelry worth >$500. Doubt she's ever had a purse or shoes that cost over $120.
Point being ... being a millionaire doesn't mean you live high on the hog or that you should be faulted for it. My folks worked their freaking asses off for 40+ years and went without on the regular and saved their pennies instead.
