In reply to the discussion: Consolidation To Biden, Even If He Gets the Nomination, Doesn't Imply A Win Against Trump [View all]grantcart
(53,061 posts)37. You should pay more attention to Presidential campaign history Berni
You mention Gore, Clinton, Kerry.
What you failed to recognize is that twice we have tried to run a campaign based on raising middle class taxes
McGovern, we won one state, Massachusetts
Mondale, we won one state, Minnesota.
Don't know where you live but in AZ the Republicans almost gave up on defending McSally against our great candidate Mark Kelly.
Now they are spending millions linking Kelly to Sanders, at the end of the ad they have a clip of Bernie looking into the camera and stating
"Yes I am going to raise taxes on the middle class"
Stop looking at Clinton, Kerry and Gore where we narrowly lost but stayed strong in the House and Senate and look at McGovern and Mondale where a promise to raise middle class taxes have Republicans their greatest landslides.
You are not sure what Biden represents? How about a lifetime of compassionate Democratic values grounded in practical achievable policies.
You prefer a visitor who over promises under delivers and is on track with middle class tax increases, all of which leads to landslide loses?
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

OP
Bernie is hated by the right almost as much as Clinton, and makes enemies on all sides.

There is no factual basis for that statement. In fact, Bernie has more cross-over appeal

You need to go look at sites for the other side; you are in for a rude awakening

Some candidates in purple/red areas would have to distance themselves from Sanders.

Bernie will learn tomorrow how many voters are pissed he didn't go to Selma.

Exactly, Biden is our best bet. He is the ONLY candidate the Idiot is afraid of. Look at the lengths

Nah, what it's really about is you not getting what you want as far as the nominee

Actually the idea that Biden has a better shot at beating Trump is what is driving the enthusiasm.

Sanders has attacked Democrats his whole life and done damage the last five years.

I haven't seen anyone talking about it being an easy win for Biden. I do think it would be an easy

He only started putting that word first in 2015. I believe Sanders five decades before it

Oh many will care when the GOP attack machine gets in gear against Sanders if he is the nominee.
