First, it's about who would be a good president if they had to fill in.
Second, it's about what voters the VP could bring into the booth that the P candidate might not get. And yeah, a woman could well bring in voters a little skeptical of either of the men.
Geography might matter too. (By that count, Warren wouldn't help much probably-- both B and S are northeasterners, and so is she. And Harris is from a state that will vote for the Dem anyway. Klobuchar, however....)
Often presidential candidates don't choose former rivals.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

No, because many Sanders supporters wouldn't accept anything other than Sanders at the top.
