Not only was Joe Barack's friend, assistant and wing man, a part he played so happily that they actually became good friends - Joe Biden also allowed himself to be a lightning rod for the administration. On more than a few occasions, Biden went out on attack in ways Obama could not have done without falling into the "angry Black man" tropes that Fox Noise and the rest were continually trying to trap him into. More than being color blind to that situation, Biden proved to be color aware, which is kind of next level. He leveraged his white privileged and took political hits in order to help the administration succeed. I get it, even as an old white guy myself; that's what a genuine friend does for someone he admires. That's what doing right looks like.
