Romney and Collins are moderate republicans, not nearly the same as moderate Democrats these days. There were a lot more Democratic moderates, but I can't recall them right now. They are often from some western or southern states. I remember Blanche Lincoln was a moderate and she helped ax the public option for the ACA. Max Baucus too.
