(29,089 posts)That is his message, that the dysfunction of politics is only due to money corrupting everybody. The only reason that not all of his fellow legislators support his ideas is that PACs and lobbyists and corporate donors pay them not to. When the money disappears, so will all resistance to progressive ideas (including Republicans -- forget that they vote because of ideology, movement conservatism, the Republican motto of politics as war, evangelicals, racism and sexism and xenophobia, one-issue voters (abortion, guns), the right-wing media empire that makes them despise liberals and fear the apocalypse that will happen if they are not stopped, small government libertarians, etc.). All Americans will joyously flock to the polls.
If your ideology is based on the idea that money corrupts everyone and makes them elitists and you have money, it's a sensitive position. You are not popular with those you called corrupt elitists responsible for all the ills of the country.
