(6,810 posts)She campaigned on helping the working class, but when questioned about her speeches in front of Wall Street good gawd were people incensed by the audacity of asking. She advocated for helping the working class, so how was it unreasonable to ask what she said to our blood-sucking overlords? Why was asking for that transparency such a horrific attack? Reasonable people didn't think she was speaking with a forked tongue and reptilian scales showing behind closed curtains on Wall Street, reasonable people just wanted to know how she was selling her public positions on helping the working class to the making-their-living-off-of-the-working class.
Double standards go in all directions depending on who is offended. I have zero interest in defending his reluctance to release his returns other that to posit perhaps in his ham-fisted thinking he was worried about this exact thing, being called a hypocrite for becoming a millionaire, and that it would drown out the message he was trying and has been trying to deliver for years. We all know he's not all that great at dealing with people, speeches in front of them are his jam. (Honestly, wasn't that something Clinton (and Gore for that matter) was also accused of? Being wooden and being more comfortable talking AT people rather than with? She's grown, Sanders hasn't.) Isn't it possible that this was just more of his Mr. Magoo-level bumbling rather than some nefarious plot to ... something? People desperately want there to be and see evil in this man. Why? How is that hatred different from the people slamming Hillary for everything under the sun?
