read up on the Philadelphia DA. Kamilla Harris is old-school. Even worse than being "old school" is the fact that she participated in a prison system that is a glory fest for the right wing. She should have a vision that is more humane, more imaginative, and more in keeping with rehabilitation. But to my knowledge, and please correct me if I'm wrong, I've not heard that.

Re the federal story, I posted it because it is an example of the complete and total disregard there is for prisoners. These people in that facility had not even seen the inside of a courtroom, yet here our government is--leaving them in cold conditions with no blankets, jackets, nothing. If you know of her speaking out against this atrocity, please post the story.

This type of thinking has to go.

Yes, some people need to be in prison but not in the vast amounts this country prescribes.

Oh and don't get me started on the astronomical cost of keeping people in prisons. Marijuana? Let 'em out. Mentally ill? No place for them in a prison. Have you read Malcolm Gladwell's article on how many people in prison are actually mentally ill? Read "Damaged in the Brain" (The New Yorker).

The U.S. is brutal. There is no other word for it and there is no place in our political system for people who don't realize how backwards this system is.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
