Congratulations to our presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden!
Democratic Primaries
In reply to the discussion: Pete Buttigieg on Impeachment for Trump [View all]madaboutharry
(40,203 posts)6. This is the position for all the candidates who are not in Congress.
Impeachment needs to be on the table, but getting into the impeachment debate for the candidates is a distraction. If Trump is still around for 2020, it would be an albatross for the democratic nominee to have given him the "you wanted to impeach me" argument.
Answering this question will be a little tougher for those hopefuls now serving in Congress.
This is the reason I think this: I don't think that the democrats in the House are going to move on impeachment. I think they see the risk politically too high. So why should the candidates go on a limb for something that most likely isn't going to happen.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

Sounds like he wants it both ways. Unusual for Pete. He's usually so definite

It's the weakest statement I've heard from him on any topic, but maybe his best option.
