defining behavior patterns alone, especially repeated, and definitely including their own passionate statements often repeated.

We’re talking about the kind of Sanders supporters who went to the Democratic national convention to disrupt it and yelled “lock her up” about Hillary. (This while their current chosen leader sat quiet and blandly watched.)

I have read a fair amount about effects of personality on political views and behaviors, and I’m absolutely certain the vast majority were not and could never have been “regular Democratic voters.”

Psychologists say that people who associate with extremists can become extremist themselves and increasingly separated from reality, a slippery mental slope, and that whole groups can become more extreme over time. That may well have happened to some of them, but climbing back out of those rabbit holes isn’t a simple matter of deciding to choose rationality “this time.”
