A hint to the other white male Senators: if you don't vote to confirm me, you are taking part in a lynching. Well, it's a strategy.
What I remember most about Clarence Thomas' testimony was when I think it was Orin Hatch kindly interviewing him. Lotoya Jackson had come out with an autobiographical book in which she claimed her father or someone in the family had molested her. Hatch asked Thomas something like, "Why do you think someone would write a thing like that in a book, Judge? For everyone to read." Thomas replied (it was clearly an orchestrated Q&A): " I don't know, Senator, why a person would put something like that in a book." He said that angrily.
I don't know if it reads the way it was said, but I was shocked by that Q&A because they weren't angry about Lotoya Jackson being allegedly molested. They were angry that she'd PUBLICIZE it! To me, that said it all. They didn't CARE if Thomas was a pervert or harasser. They only cared that Anita Hill had the nerve to PUBLICIZE it.
primary today, I would vote for: Undecided
