the communications director heard what she later claimed was racist things and possible criminal acts. She went to the chief, Boykins, who then threatened the other cops, as it was a power struggle. The other cops freaked out and went to the FBI and they started a federal investigation.
Much of that happened before Pete became mayor. He was finally told about the ongoing federal investigation. Boykins never told him he had been illegally taping the other cops. Neither did the com director. At some point Buttigieg asked for Boykin's resignation, and he resigned, but the next morning took it back. Buttigieg demoted him, and fired the coms director.
Almost no one other than Boykins and the communications director have heard the tapes. A federal judge ruled the were illegal and should be destroyed in 2015. The City Council appealed, and it was kicked back to a state court, where a RW judge appointed by Pence will soon rule. Everyone sued. The other cops got the most, half a million. The coms director got a lot less, but Boykins, the chief, only got 75K.
Boykins stayed on the police force in SB the whole time and retired in 2017. Pete has never heard the tapes. He only has guardian custody until the court case is decided about them once and for all. He will destroy them if the state judge upholds what all the other courts/judges have said, except for the federal appellate court, namely that they were criminally made.
Finally, he is NOT in favour of felony disenfranchisement ONCE the prisoner is released. Only, like almost everywhere, when they are actually locked up. Bernie's position is political suicide here in the US.
You really need to read things more carefully. You have been sold a false bill of goods based off what you are incorrectly claiming.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
