And not to put too fine a point on it, he was so excited that Obama chose him. No sour grapes. And he happily served as #2 to the first Af. American President to the point that they became bffs. (Well, Obama is mixed race, but to racists, it's the same thing.)

His eight years in the Obama administration, during the Great Recession, dealing with total obstruction by the Republicans, the wars still going on, and all the rest - that's pretty weighty experience.
