Here's a recent Brookings Institution article that sheds some light on Biden's economic views. BI has launched a "Future of the Middle Class Initiative," and this came out of that, thus the middle class theme.
Vice President Joe Bidens 5 ideas for helping Americas middle class
Vice President Biden said that a strong, aspiring, and growing middle class accounts for much of the stability in America over the last century. When the middle class does well, he said, everyone does well. ...
The middle class is not a number, Biden said, its a value set.

There's plenty of good information out there. Biden is famous for his support of unions and the principles of collective bargaining, for instance. Anyone who wants to argue that a
growing, prosperous middle class, much less healthy unions, is "status quo" these days is totally disconnected from reality. Both Biden and Warren want to put an end to the predatory conservatism that followed and return to a nation, including its economy, of, by and for its people. They differ how best to accomplish that, of course.
