(12,344 posts)that reverberate to this day. Few people who lived through it have forgotten. I did not initially recall Biden's role in it myself, but now I do. I also don't care if he apologizes or not, because I am not the one who deserves an apology and I do think he would do it differently today. But there are women for whom it remains a sore spot who would see it differently.
I don't think this is fatal to him, but he does need to own his past, both the good and bad of it. There is a lot to look at and it will all come out. The problem of having too long a record has hurt other politicians. The things that maybe made sense back then no longer make sense and become hard to justify.
If he can't handle his past deftly, he can't win. This is an "electability" factor unique to Biden, because he has such a long and prominent record.
