In reply to the discussion: Bernie Sanders v the Democratic establishment: what the battle is really about [View all]Uncle Joe
(65,152 posts)34. As much as you would love to personalize this, I see nothing on your link
about "Hillary hate" so much as a sober ideological analysis and from the OP which I posted.
(snip)
I dont think so. Between 2009 and 2012, I worked for both Shakir and Tanden at the Center for American Progress. Shakir was the editor-in-chief of ThinkProgress at the time and we both worked under Tanden.
Shakir and Tanden frequently clashed during my time there, but not a single one of their disputes was about anything personal. Instead, they argued about the role of money in politics.

It may sound like I am portraying Tanden, Biden and the Democratic establishment as corrupt and immoral willing to sell policy and political communications to the highest bidder with no regard for the public interest.
But social psychology research tells us that people who have different ideas about politics than us are not generally bad people theyre mostly good people with different convictions. In the eyes of the Democratic establishment, courting big dollars is the only way to stay politically competitive and besides, corporations and wealthy individuals are major stakeholders in society, so why shouldnt they get a major say over policy?

Can you give an example of where a Democrat expressed or demonstrated such an intention?

Bernie's been a career politician for most of his adult life. Maybe he's not a Democrat

Have Jilani's Hillary hate pieces been confined to The American Conservative?

The ideology is decidedly conservative and armchair psychology is hardly most reader's

It would've been nice to have at least included the entire paragraph instead of chopping it off.

If he's so upset with the way the Democratic Party is and operates, why doesn't he....

George, it appears that you might be "just trying to influence the American election".

No he hasn't; at best, he's weakened our ability to choose a strong candidate

It's got nothing to do with superdelegates. Why bring that into this discussion?

The DNC accepted Sanders because he has good ideas and to keep him from running as an Independent.

He has said, time and again, over and over, that he is not a Democrat, doesn't want to be

And if it was a genuine change of heart, would he have switched back to I-VT in 2016?

Yeah, he registered to run again as an independent in Vermont, just before he signed the DNC pledge.

If Bernie wins the nomination and G.E. he will govern as a Democratic President.

It is realism, when was the last time a third party candidate won the Presidency? n/t

No one does, most of all Bernie, he was the first to sign the pledge, to my knowledge

If Bernie has that weakness, he really should entirely bow out of politics.
