If your child ingest marijuana is to first assess the situation. Certainly, if your child seems to have life threatening symptoms call 911. If not, call your primary care physician. They can assess if your child needs to go to the emergency room or just needs to wait it out. Your doctor might suggest that you come to his office or wait and watch for additional symptoms. Quite likely a trip to the emergency room will not be necessary.

I remember once when I was about 27, my boyfriend (22) and I had a friend of his over. His friend was about 18 or 20. We smoked a bit and his friend had a panic attack and thought he was going to die. We sat and talked to him and calmed him down. In about an hour he was fine and we were glad he wasn't still insisting we take him to the hospital. He was also glad because he sure didn't want to tell his parents (who he still lived with) that he had smoked marijuana and had to go to the emergency room.
