Yesterday

(although not as extreme) have been taking place at least since the 1980s in regards to media consolidation, but most people going about their daily lives don't relate to those issues so much.

On the other hand, virtually every adult either knows someone who has been abused even if only tangentially or been abused, this is cemented by strong emotions and thus represents a mortal political dynamic for the powerful people in our society who believe they're above it all, and enable or participate in this destructive, tragic behavior.
