Tony Dokoupil kicked off his CBS Evening News era with a dramatic promise:
“Don’t just trust me. Make me earn it. You come first — not advertisers, not politicians, not corporate interests, including the new owners of CBS.”
Sounds great on paper. But there’s one huge problem: those “new owners of CBS” are Trump‑friendly billionaire David Ellison and anti‑woke culture warrior Bari Weiss, who now runs CBS News. Dokoupil rails against “legacy media,” “elites,” and “advocates and academics,” while working for exactly the kind of billionaire‑owned, elite media empire he’s pretending to rebel against.
