This is very important and informative, folks… explaining the shifting power dynamics of the Middle East oil trade.

In a nutshell (this is a vast oversimplification!), the U.S. has been aligned with the Saudis and against Iran. Not just for oil; Saudi petrodollars prop up the U.S. economy in a MAJOR way. But the Saudis, looking for a more secure future, have quietly allied themselves with Iran and China… (and Israel, but that’s a side story). Saudi cooperation with USA (nope, meant to say Iran here!) would collapse if the Iranian regime falls, so they have probably played a major role behind the curtain in getting TSF to back off bombing Iran in support of the uprisings there.
