Any nation that supports the torture of another nation's people for over a quarter of a century instead of championing agency and democracy isn't going find a warm and fuzzy welcome from those people, but continued enmity for some period of time.

The OP contends that we first supported the people of Iran. Had we supported the people of Iran, the Shah would've been sent back to them to stand trial for his atrocities, it would be the same as if *rump or Netanyahu after being deposed were taking refuge in Russia. So we never really supported the people of Iran after the revolution, and that's the frame of modern times.

Furthermore the result from her argument of the "brilliance" behind tying the purchase of oil with the dollar is the De Facto motivation by the dominant nations of the world to keep burning global warming fossil fuels regardless of the consequences to the human species at least on a civilizational level "for the sake of the economy," instead of rapidly transitioning to renewable forms of energy.
